Climate Change: What's Your Plan?
There is a compelling scientific consensus that human activity is changing the world's climate. The burning of fossil fuels, to generate electricity and power our vehicles, modern agriculture, deforestation and lifestyle choices have all increased greenhouse gas emissions and contributed to a rise in global temperatures.
Over 40% of CO2 emissions in the UK come directly from what we do as individuals. We need to take a closer look at the choices we make in our daily lives. The way we heat our homes, the amount of electricity we use, the things that we buy and the way that we travel all affect the amount of CO2 that is released into the atmosphere. Action is needed at the global, national and local level and individuals can really make a difference by cutting their own carbon footprint.
In order to help tackle climate change at a local level, Leicester City Council has developed A What's Your Plan? campaign that is asking individuals and businesses in Leicester to do their bit for the planet and make a climate change pledge to cut their carbon emissions.
