The actions below have been prioritised by the Leicester Environment Partnership as local developments that will make a big difference in improving the environment and delivering the Leicester Environment Strategy.
1) Establish an Energy Services Company (ESCO) to develop a community heating network based on Combined Heat and Power (CHP) and renewable energy
2)Develop the Leicester Better Buildings initiative to raise environmental standards in buildings
3) Campaign to get households and businesses to switch to a green electricity tariff
4) Support schools in becoming accredited with the European environmental quality standard (EMAS)
5) Implement the Leicester West park and ride scheme
6) Expand the Safer Routes to School programme to all city schools
7) Develop more dedicated cycle routes (not shared with traffic)
8) Develop a construction waste recycling facility
9) Increase the area of SINC designated land
10) Increase user satisfaction levels for parks and open spaces
